A Holiday Tourtière sale by a local chef has become a highly anticipated yearly event and a sell-out! A birthday fundraiser challenged friends and family to give, and we welcomed new donors to SCS. Your support of Seniors’ Community Services will help provide Seniors, and adults with physical disabilities the opportunities to access services that optimize health and independence. Your support will encourage and enhance a healthy life for our seniors and the community as a whole.
As a small community service organization, we rely on donations to bridge the gap our funders are unable to fill. With your kindness and generosity our vision for ensuring seniors live well at home will continue to flourish.
Your donation will help us maintain the quality and quantity of our services and programs and continue to respond to the evolving needs of our community.
Your generosity will ensure seniors, many whom face the financial restraints, can access services without the stress of high costs. You will help increase access to nutritious meals through the Meals on Wheels Program, transportation to vital medical appointments and ensure all seniors are not limited by personal or financial limitations.
One Time donation: This can be directed to a service that is close to your heart such as Meals on Wheels, or to the general fund that supports all programs and services.
Monthly donation: This is an ongoing donation of support that is easily set up online, or by contacting our office. Monthly giving allows you to make a bigger charitable impact, and provides an opportunity to be an ongoing champion for seniors, and adults with physical disabilities in YOUR community.
In Honour Tribute: Honour a friend, colleague or family member with a donation celebrating a special occasion, such as a birthday, graduation or anniversary.
In Memory Tribute: Recognize SCS as a charitable donation option following the death of a loved one. It can be a meaningful giving option for family and friends.
Planned Giving: A legacy gift is a planned future gift that designates some part of an individual's estate as a donation. This is a powerful gift that creates a direct and lasting impact on the continued work of SCS. If you have questions about planning a donation please contact Dawn Rodger at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

In the early 80s, the unique needs of the aging population were recognized as a priority area for ensuring older adults had the option to live independently in their own homes. Aging at home with supports became the foundation of what was then called the Kemptville and District Community Assistance Program (KDCAP).
Following the lead of the National Advisory Council and their Priorities for Action, KDCAP began the journey to supporting seniors and adults with physical disabilities in the Kemptville area. The catalyst to support was local resident Rita Dinner and a group of friends. Through interviews with people in long-term care, they determined that many seniors who were living in retirement homes could, with support, live independently at home. The volunteers worked tirelessly to secure funding to support the Meals on Wheels and transportation initiatives that remain fundamental services today.
In 1984, Cheryl Brown, once the KDCAP Volunteer Coordinator, became the organization’s first Executive Director and in 1988, KDCAP became Kemptville and District Home Support. In 2009, KDHSI found a new home on Sanders Street in Kemptville, and our organization remains a vital and fundamental part of the North Grenville community.
In 2020, our operating name changed to Seniors’ Community Services. This new name was founded on a collective agreement by staff and the Board of Directors that embraced the positive growth of the organization within North Grenville. SCS is dedicated to understanding and meeting the changing needs of our community, and providing programs and services that are accessible, relevant, and progressive. Our priority remains true to our early days 40 years ago: to ensure all seniors and adults with physical disabilities have the opportunity to live well and with independence while having the assurance of supports while aging at home.
Seniors’ Community Services is a registered charitable organization dedicated to supporting seniors, and adults with physical disabilities live well, and independently in their own homes. We strive to develop responsive, action-based programming and services that optimize access to transportation, nutritious meals, and home support. As a rural support service, we depend on volunteers who are the driving force behind our services, and the collaboration with community partners and stakeholders who understand the important contributions of older adults in the community. The centre creates a welcoming hub for social and recreational activities, and the opportunity to assist in decreasing social isolation and loneliness. Our virtual programs provide a gathering place that is respectful of individual circumstances and ensures that no one is left behind. SCS is dedicated to ensuring an atmosphere of warmth, with a practical approach to supporting the unique needs to age in place with dignity, independence and vitality.
To enhance the independent lifestyle of seniors and adults living with physical disabilities in our community by offering meaningful and timely services and activities.
We recognize the diversity of our clients and promote equitable access and full participation to our programs and services.
We embrace kindness and understanding when responding to our client's individual needs.
We actively seek programs and services to enhance the well-being of our clients.
We acknowledge that each client will make their own independent life choices.
We adhere to consistent and transparent practices and accept responsibility for the outcomes.
I really love volunteering at SCS. Dawn, Carol and Jennifer are so much fun to work with; always so positive and friendly. I also love that the atmosphere is very cooperative and I feel I am a part of a team working in a caring manner to help seniors in the area
